Admission Requirements
- Minimum Age: 16 years old at the time of enrollment.
- English Proficiency: Non-native English speakers should have IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
- Educational Background: Open access qualification, but students should have completed full-time secondary education (e.g., UK GCSE Level or overseas equivalent).
Course Structure
Duration: The program spans approximately 6 months.
Mode of Delivery: Classes are conducted online.
Modules: Three (3) Modules
- Tourism and Hospitality Industry
- Essentials of Tourism and Hospitality Operations
- Essential Study Skills
Mode of Teaching:
- Classroom-based (inclusive of the following – online lectures, peer interactions, individual assignments, case studies, group study and in-class exercises
Timing:
- 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (3 days per week)
Course Modules & Outline
Tourism and Hospitality Industry (THI):
This unit aims to introduce learners to the tourism and hospitality industry. Learners will understand the types and characteristics of different hotel and food service providers. Learners will also understand the roles and functions of different delivery channels operating within the industry and will be able to gain an insight into how the industry has developed and is likely to develop in future.
Essentials of Tourism and Hospitality Operations (ETHO):
This unit aims to introduce learners to a range of functions within the tourism and hospitality industry i.e. front office, housekeeping, food and beverage operations, destination analysis and tour guiding operations.
Essential Study Skills (ESS):
This unit aims to provide learners with essential skills for academic communication, writing assignments and making presentations of academic information and carrying out programmes of academic study.
